Hi there! This is my first post and I’m looking for some guidance or assistance in finding more information about one Charles Jamieson of 14 Barn Ct or Bain Ct. Glasgow.

I have a document that states that my Grandmother(b.1929) Is the illegitimate child of a Charles Jamieson.

Any information or further rabbit holes of information would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, welcome to the group. Is there any more information you can give that may help? Grandmothers name?
Sure. My grandmother’s name is Sarah McKay McKinlay. - her mother was either an Elizabeth McKinlay or Margaret. Due to the time she was raised as the child of her grandmother and called her actual mother her sister but I can’t remember which was which. My grandmother was born in 1929.

Are we possibly talking about someone still living?
Not likely. My grandmother was born 1929. So I’m looking at tracking her father. It’s possible but he’d be quite old if he was still living. He likely went on to marry and have legitimate children which would be my grandmothers siblings. We just don’t have any information on that side of things.

Possibly Sarah's mother...

MCKINLAY. MARGARET MACKAY

MILLAR. CLAUDE

Married 1940 Cambuslang

also some maybe's...

MCKINLAY. MARGARET

MCLEOD. DAVID

Married 1939 Cambuslang

MCKINLAY. ELIZABETH HADDO

MARSHALL. JOHN

Married 1933 Cambuslang.

Now for a long shot. There was a Charles Jamieson in the 1911 census living in Cambuslang where Sarah was born, he would have been about 28 in 1929 and he was married.

1911

CHARLES JAMIESON 9 Cambuslang

JAMIESON CHARLES 1901 627/ 342 Cambuslang

Interesting.. I’ll have to dig up her birth certificate document for the mother’s name.

also very interesting. 🤔 It seems quite possible that could be the Charles listed seeing as her mother and father were not married. Could have been that he already was. Thank you for your information.

If this is Sarah's mother who married in 1940 then this is possibly her birth and death...

This last one is an odd coincidence.. the others seem interesting. Did the Charles Jamieson married to Jeanie have any children?
