I bought a USB WiFi adapter yesterday and installed the driver and it does not show on the list of available WiFi networks, so can't choose it and press connect. The button on back of modem was pressed so WiFi light on modem is on.
Oh! It should find yours and anyone within range.. The signal icon in the bottom right task bar should also do that? [left click it]

"Click on the network icon on the taskbar"

"Select your Wi-Fi network" TP-Link_XXXX" No such item in the list of available networks.

"Click 'Connect' and enter the password" I have the password on bottom of modem.

It found 9 networks.

I don't need it working yet. Just getting prepared for NBN which is due 17th Jan in this block of units. We supposedly have 18 months to switch to broadband. Although some ISPs try to force customers to switch within a month saying if they don't they will lose existing connection to internet.

About $10 per month more for NBN50 compared to ADSL2+ which is 12. Only choice of NBN12 or NBN50 or NBN100.

I had to change two settings in the modem.

The network name was not TP-LINK_XXXX but the one on the bottom of the modem WiFi-C836 which I entered in the SSID1 field of the modem.

I chose WPA2- AES encryption

I clicked on the network and entered the password on the bottom of the modem which is also in the modem set up.

Now Wi-Fi is working. Speed 13.02/0.67

Computer is 3m away from modem.

I'm still troubled by the initials O and A in post #1.

Charles Oswald calls himself Charles Alfred when he married and soon after in the rolls then reverts to the middle name on the birth reg. ??

Dunno, Dave... there are trees, some of them have his middle name as Owen and others Oswald, it doesn't appear to impact on aything..

No thanks Geoff.

Searched Trove for "charles spackman"~1 which means search for "charles spackman" or "charles x spackman" where x = any middle name or initial.

No hits at all for Queensland.
