Hi Fellow Researchers,

Yep me again with a warning...I promise you I'm not so thick I don't no what I'm doing but......!

Anyone taking a subsription out with thegenealo website........ CHECK the areas that have been transcribed BEFORE paying as I have just joined only to discover they don't cover ANY of the areas I need!

I e-mailed them to inform them and was basically told hard luck mate you should have looked first..although they did agree to reduce my subscription from 12 to 6 months.

So now I'm stuck with a subscription that's no use to me (even looking at ALL the other available documents including the new BMDs 1600 onwards!)

Kindest Regards,

Martin

Hi Martin,

I reckon there's a conspiracy between all these sites, so we have to subscribe to all, to get what we want.

Am I paranoid.:D :2fun: :2fun:

Steve.:)
No I don't think your poaranoid Steve, just a sceptic like me.

There must be a conspiracy otherwise it would be too easy to join just one website and find all the info you need.

I used to use that site, but to be honest I wasn't happy with it, I felt I wasn't getting much for my money and searching was difficult - much prefer ancestry.:)

Totally agree...it takes soooo long to actually find anything on this flippin site. At least with Ancestry you can search various docs for the same person at once and look-up the proposed hints (although in this case one has to be careful and not get carried away...speaking from experience)

Martin

Oh yeah.......the 'hints'.

Some are so obsure, that you think you've done something wrong.

I'm speaking as a 'newbie' here.

The trouble is, it takes so long to get rid of the 'rubbish' hints. You can't 'tick' them, and blanket bin the ones that defineately don't apply. (Suggestion will be sent).

Oh well.....I mustn't grumble on.

I too was sucked in with thegene*****. There are hardly any records at all that you can't access for free and their parish records are very limited. You use all your credits just doing a search - as I found out. I emailed them and didn't renew - I went back to Ance******, much easier to use and cheaper too. They also have more records than some of the other sites.
Cheers
Karen
