FROME NONAGENARIAN DEAD
The death has occurred at Oakfield Road, Frome, of Mr Joseph Lear Peacock, aged 97. Mr Peacock was the second son of the late Mr J. Lear Peacock, of Cottles Oak, Frome, a retired railway contractor, who made the railway from Bristol to Frome via Radstock.
Mr Peacock was born at the Mumbles Swansea, during the time his father was carrying out his contract with the G.W.R., making the line from Swansea to Carmarthen and Haverford West in 1843.

Deaths Sep Qtr 1861 Peacock Mary Jane [3] Frome 5c 337

No mother's maiden name for the first child but is James the first? Can't use the marriage as a guide as it was in 1859. Is Mary Jane the last?

If the dob in 1939 Register is correct then we have a problem - Sep Q 1842 and Nov 1842. Age at death for James points to abt 1843. In 1861 census James points to 1843 and Joseph to 1846. A gap between 1846 and 1850.

Also looking for any burial records.

Thanks,

Dave

Thanks Elaine.

Age for James varies through the census is all show him born Gloucestershire. The 1843 birth reg looks to be the right one.

Age for Joseph does not vary much and points to 1845 and all show him born Gloucestershire.

Age 97 at death is the only one that points to 1843.

Another branch of the family also ended up in Wales and births there are 1850 - 1853 range, though again not all birth reg found.

Births Sep 1850 PEACOCK William Swansea 26 588 mmn HATHERILL

Births Mar 1853 PEACOCK George Llanelly 11a 445 mmn HATHERALL

Births Sep 1855 PEACOCK Joseph Keynsham 5c 664 mmn HATHERELL

Re the James Peacock Lear birth, I'm not sure at the moment where that one fits.

You are right Elaine according to the transcription I have. And it shows Elizabeth born Frome and we have her birth reg in Swansea. I've not seen the image.

I'm still trying to find where James Peacock Lear 1843 fits.
