Im confused, so the Mary Childs that died 1836 aged 20 was the mother to Harriet and Sarah?

Nope i got that wrong by the looks cause 1836 aged 20 she would have been born around 1816 and Harriet was born 1831 so Mary would have been really young??

Yes, a bit of a problem gibbo for several things.

Why the index has William when the image has James

Is age at death a guess? Or is it the wrong death?

I can't find a death for a James/William hayst*/hoyst* in NSW index.

There is one Mary Childs convict with a different age and death. That might be the one in the stocks.

NSW Marriage 1398/1834 V18341398 18 DEVINE JAMES - CHILDS MARY A - CH

Lots of deaths for a Mary A Devine.

Burial has Mary born in colony so her mother at least was in NSW.

Baptisms for John Childs & Mary but being a volume past 123 I can't look up at the library. The earliest is this one.

NSW Bap CHILDS MARGARET 1550/1822 V18221550 162A JOHN - MARY - IA

No marriage in NSW index for a John Child/Childs to a Mary before 1822.

Thanks gibbo.

Even harder than usual because there is also a Child family in my tree in NSW around the same time and some were convicts. So some Childs may be Child and v.v.
