Thanks gibbo.

I'll look that up one day next week.

Does not seem to be a tree to help with Childs family.

The image looks like James Hoystan but nothing fits in BMD. The name is in the surname column so not a middle name. No idea why the index has William. Error by the minister or by the registry?

Beginning to think now that maybe the Miller name is just a coincidence to show up. Im sure Sarah Stidworthy part is right but the Miller part isn't.

Thanks gibbo.

Yes, Miller looks to be a coincidence.

JM= Presbyterian Pitt Town; Wilberforce

I'm trying to trace Mary A K Miller/Millar.

I spent the morning in the garden being the first fine day for a week.

Marriage V1849853 79/1849 STEDWORTHY EDWARD - CHILDS SARAH - JM= Presbyterian Pitt Town; Wilberforce

Marriages solemnized in the Parish of - in the County of - in the Year 18
No. 493
I, Edward Stedworthy do hereby declare that I am a Member of, or hold Communion with, the Presbyterian Church of Scotland [signed] Edward Stedworthy
I, Sarah Childs do hereby declare that I am a Member of, or hold Communion with, the Presbyterian Church of Scotland [signed] Sarah her x mark Childs
I, George Macfie, of Pitt Town, Minister of Portland Head and Pitt Town, do hereby certify that Edward Stedworthy, Bachelor, of Pitt Town, and Sarah Childs, Spinster, of Pitt Town, were joined together in Wedlock by me on the sixth day of November 1849, at Pitt Town, in the presence of John Miller and Harriott Miller, both of Pitt Town.
Witnesses signed: John Miller, Harriet Miller [signed] Geo. Macfie Presbyterian Minister

This is not from the parish register but from the image of the form the Church sends to the Registrar General so the whole form is written in one hand. But clearly Harriet signed as Harriet and the name in the record is Harriott. Sarah made her mark. A bit curious that Harriet signed. One day I might be able to get the image of the actual PR.
