I can't find him in 1881 and I can't find him in shipping records.

No Punt.
Laurieton Monday. — A man named Chissell while attempting to cross the river at Kendall this morning was drowned. It appears that Chissell, who was a photographer, wished to cross the river, and there being no, punt or boat there, he attempted to swim across, but when within about 10 feet off the bank he sank. The body has been recovered.


Must have been a inquest as no death index for him that i can find.
