I can't find a marriage for Leslie and Amelia.

The 1925 E/R is curious, the addresses for them don't match

Amelia Newbery
Electoral Year: 1925
State: Queensland
District: Maranoa
Subdistrict: Miles
[Amelia (home duties) is at Kowguran with a Stanley Buchanan Newbery, farmer. And possibly a Vera Ellen Newbery, Clovely, Kowguran, home duties.]

Leslie Arthur Newbery
Electoral Year: 1925
State: Queensland
District: Maranoa
Subdistrict: Miles
[14 mile Creek, Miles. Grazier. With Mary, home home duties]

Then there is this:
Amelia Newbery
Electoral Year: 1925
State: Queensland
District: Maranoa
Subdistrict: Miles
[As above without Stanley]

Geoff

Edit: I notice in post #1 you have the address different, I wonder where Stanley came from ?

Place: Queensland
Reg Place: Queensland

Thanks Geoff.

Yes, Stanley and Vera are siblings of Leslie.

Mary would be their mother (nee McKERIHAN) who died in Miles in 1944.

With the addresses that are station properties out of towns the entry for the address as filled in on the enrollment form may not agree between various household members. So sometimes they are in the same household although it appears they are not.

The marriage has not been found by any researcher.

It's not in NZ.

Leslie Arthur - Enlisted Miles, Qld. 9 May 1916 - S/N 2134 42nd Bn - NOK mother Newbery Mary living at 'Clovelly' Kowguran via Miles, Qld. - Embarked Brisbane, Qld. HMAT A46 'Clan McGillivray' 7 Sep 1916 - Served in France - Wounded 1917 - Returned to Australia 20 Feb 1919 - Discharged 9 Apr 1919 1st MD.

The 1st Military District was an administrative district of the Australian Army - Queensland.

So you would expect the marriage to be in Qld. The alternative is Victoria where Amelia was born.

I wonder where they met.

I've found her in 1942, but there are hundreds of them

Electoral Year: 1942
State: Victoria
District: Batman
Subdistrict: Northcote
[Mary Sydney, home duties, she appears to be on her own]

Geoff

Edit: That was 33 Bridge St..

Oh. :)

Thanks Geoff.

A tree has William's birth in Gawler South Australia 1861. I've searched 1861 +/- 4 and can't find it.
