Hi, I have only been interested in my family history for a few months now but I seem to have hit a 'brick wall' and wonder if anyone out there has any information that could help me. I am tracing my family tree through my paternal Grandmother. She was Ada Clifford, later Married Robert Smith. She was born in 1882 in Coudon, Durham although the family are from Cumberland.
Her father, my great grandfather was Thomas Clifford b 1848 in Long Marton Cumberland.
His father was Joseph Clifford b 1813 in Brampton Cumberland.
It is Joseph's father that is the problem! I have his name RICHARD PROCTOR CLIFFORD and I know he married a lady called Jane Elliot (t). But I am unable to find out anything about him of any ancestors further back than this. Can anyone help?
