Clues Needed Please!

Hi Everyone,
I really need some help in looking for a birth around 1824.
My GGGran Mary Welsh, according to Census Info. was born in Hollingsworth Rochdale in around 1824 where do I start looking?
I thought Records only began around 1837 so where do I start? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
