Wow - somebody should make this a sticky on the top of the thread to warn other people!

Really disappointed to see that these coats of arms places don't cite their sources. Takes all but 2 seconds to provide a title or a website link. At least you can see for yourself if the source is legitimate....

Agreed with what everyone here has said - lots of scammers out there!

And to think they don't even cite their sources, which takes all of two seconds. For shame...

You might think so but with heraldry things are far more complicated and citing a source such as
Barret of Thoroton, Heralds Visitation of Nottighamshire 1662-64 etc would not help. You could find the relevant family in the Visitation but you would have no idea whether that particular pedigree was accurate or was falsified by the Herald in the 17th century.
A number of Heralds were corrupt and would make the pedigree fit as required.

A better approach is to avoid all bucket shops (dealers who claim to hold details of Coats of Arms for families) and follow usual research routes back until you find an armiger in your lineage.
