Hello Dave,

This is the nearest I can get in 1861. There is no sign of Thomas, born 1856, but perhaps he died. The ages of the bride and groom are a bit out and I suppose there is a chance that Agnes is a daughter from a previous marriage.

Address: Back Land
Civil Parish and RD: Abbey Burgh
County: Renfrewshire

James Cockburn 61 (born Paisley, occupation, silk weaver)
Christina Cockburn 45 (born Campsie, Lanarkshire)
Agnes Cockburn 16 (born Glasgow)
George Cockburn 6 (born Paisley)
Archibald Cockburn 1 (born Paisley)

(Haven’t had any luck with your other requests of today.)

Josie

Hello Josie,

Thank you very much.

Well, it looked the most likely marriage for my Christina/Christian but age at death was so far out I turned my attention to the SMART marriage and age at death fits.

Now the born Campsie actually fits. :D

I have no doubt this is the baptism record for the one in my tree:

Christian Gib BUCHART c. 5 Aug 1821 Campsie, Stirling, Scotland
George BUCHART & Christian HANNA

However the birth is 16 Jun 1821 Arbroath, Angus. ??? EDIT: parents Robert & Isabel ***

Oh, these are two different Christina's.

Perhaps the age is out and COCKBURN is the right one after all.

Regards,

Dave

Hello Josie,

Death 1887 Christina COCKBURN (BUTCHART) Paisley, Renfrew Age 60.

I think I was wrong to dismiss this one on basis of age at death.

Please see if you can find them in 1871 and 1881. Thanks.

I hope it continues to have pob as Campsie.

Regards,

Dave

Hello Josie,

After finding some more probable death records on SP I've decided the other two look ups were not for those in my tree, so SMART and ROBERTSON families have gone.

Regards,

Dave

Hello Josie,

I've returned to this one. I can't see a birth for George or the first marriage. A birth for an Agnes in Gorbals in 1846 but parents are David & Agnes.

I'm hoping it is my Christina/Christian.

Regards,

Dave

Hello cp,

Thank you very much.

George age 6 in 1861 fits although the age for Christina is out everywhere except at marriage.

This is the baptism:

05/08/1821 BUCHART CHRISTIAN GIB - GEORGE BUCHART/CHRISTIAN HANNA FR928 F CAMPSIE /STIRLING 475/00 0040 0029

Death 1887 Christina COCKBURN (BUTCHART) Paisley, Renfrew Age 60

Dave

Hello Nuala,

welcome to FHUK.

Well now, I hope you can fill in some gaps in my tree. ;)

I have:

George BUTCHART (variations) b. ? d. ?

Christian HANNA b. ? d. ?

Marriage: 20 Aug 1820 Denny, Stirling, Scotland
George BUTCHER & Christian HANNA

20/08/1820 BUTCHER GEORGE CHRISTIAN HANNA/FR815 M DENNY /STIRLING 476/00 0030 0362

1820 Page 3
July 22
George Butcher Collier Hays [Hags?] and Christian Hanna residenter there gave in their names for proclamation in order to marriage and were proclaimed on the three following sabbaths and married on the twentieth of Aug following.

I have the following children:

Christian Gib b. 13 Jul 1821 Campsie, Stirling

James COCKBURN & Christina BUTCHARD
4 Jun 1853 Low Church, Paisley, Renfrew
Husband Age at Marriage: 45
Wife Age at Marriage: 33

Jean b. 1824 Polmont, Stirling

Janet Finlay 1831 Cadder, Lanark

Agnes Murdoch 12 Jul 1834 Old Kirkpatrick, Dunbarton

I wondered if George was in the army but it seems he was a journeyman weaver ??

My connection is via Jean who married James ARROL:

James ARRAL & Jean BUTCHARD
16 Jun 1843 Abbey (Paisley), Renfrew, Scotland

James' parents are:

John ARROL & Ann TYTLER

Marriage: 10 April 1815 (Abbey) ??
John Arrol of this parish and Ann Tytler of Paisley, were booked and proclaimed in order to marriage.

FR1712 20 May 1815 Low Church, Paisley ??

One of James ARROL's siblings was Janet b. abt 1815 Paisley, Renfrew and Janet married:

Samuel ANGEL b. 8 Aug 1826 Paisley d. 8 Jan 1856 Corduory Bridge, Vic. Aust.

Samuel's brother Stephen b. 5 Nov 1831 Paisley, Renfrew d. 15 Oct 1876 North Fitzroy, Vic. Aust. is my great great grandfather.

Dave,

I have a lot more on the family so I think it would be more appropriate to take our conversation off forum.
