Given Edward Jr was probably b. Ireland and Catherine b. 1855 Scotland, it is possible that they wont be found in Scotland in 1851, i.e. if they traveled to Scotland between 1851-1855.

Possible but 1881 has him born Paisley.

What does 1861 have for pob for Thomas?

It's a name that could be mangled into all sorts of things.
