comedy of errors

I just received 2 books on "The Marriage records of england and wales 1837 - 1899" by Michael Whitfield Foster of New Zealand on the errors in the marraiage index.
Not sure if this has been mentioned before but so far an interesting read.
It shows some insights into why those marriages you cannot find may have not been indexed at all or just missplaced.
It has certainly answered some oddities that I have noticed on searches on FreeBMD in that for some marriages the number of male to female names vary from the expected even number.

Will report back when I have delved deeper.
