Hi All,

In view of the cost of a photograph from the private websites such as the Maple Leaf Legacy and the BWMP i have decided to start a new Project, the aims of the project are set out below.
I am already working with The Veterans Affairs Canada team and have been working with them for the last year or so. I'm hoping to also be working with a New Zealand and South African goverments who i have been in contact with for the last few weeks.
The Project is called The Commonwealth Roll Of Honour Project and here are the aims.

The aim of this project is to work in conjunction with the governments or similar bodies in each Commonwealth Country to develop or contribute to a source of FREE online information of their war casualties.
Our hope is to include all the information we can, including attestation papers, service records, medal records, war diaries, photographs of headstones and memorials and any other information available.
If you are interested in helping with such a project or you are looking for a relative and would like our help please contact me or become a part of the Commonwealth Roll of Honour Project.
COMMONWEALTH ROLL OF HONOUR PROJECTS

Please email me or PM me should you wish to help or if you have any questions. I hope that you will be able to join the Project and look forward to working with anyone who wishes to help.

A proper website will hopefully be up and running within the next couple of months.

I wonder if you have thought of working with some of the many existing Roll of Honour projects and sites rather than starting a new one.
There are many like the UK dedicated http://www.roll-of-honour.com/
or the Australian http://www.awm.gov.au/ for some of the many other similar sites see
http://www.framland.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/
Cheers

Hi,

I have been in talks with other Commonwealth goverments about the project and so far its been very positive. I will keep you posted on this. I am working with The Canadian Great War Project and Canadian Veterans Affairs and have provided them with photos of casualties.

Tied up at present as it is in the middle of the fair season.

As a bit of advice one should be very careful, as a webmaster about using information gleaned from subscriptions to post messages on other sites.
It breaches your obligations under the data protection act.

It doesn't bother me personally but other people will object and such instances could sink your project before it starts.
Cheers

Sorry Guy,

I will take that into consideration in the future. I was only wanting to thankyou but will do it on the site from now on.

Kind regards

I will be posting a list of completed cemeteries and memorials up on the CROHP's forum over the coming weeks. I have around 150,000 photos of headstones and memorials so it may take a little time to post all the cemeteries up. What i can say is that all of Shropeshire is complete as is the Portsmouth Naval Memorial. I also have all Canadians buried at Brookwood as well as the New Zealanders and South Africans. The British and the Aussies still need to be done and i will be doing them in the coming weeks.
