Hi All

I am looking for the marriage certificate of a Percy Charles Cookson (born 1872) and Adelaide de la Montaigne, married at the British embassy around 1894. They possibly got married later by his father Rev Osmond Cookson in Elmstead as well.

There does not seem to be an online information from UK national archives.

It seems that the UK national archives has given all their infomration to commercial enterprises like Find my past and Ancestry. Both these sites demand payment without confirming they have the information I am looking for. I am happy to pay for the correct information but do not want to pay and then find out they do not have the information I am looking for.

Any idea where I can find this information?

Thanks

Michelle

Hi Michelle :)
Off topic a wee bit here!!
In 1891 they are Holbeck Yorks
Osmond is 50 clergy/clerk in Holy Orders bn Powerstock Dorset
Percy C bn Devon is listed as 10 should be 18 apprentice to engineer
I've submitted error to Anc#
There's an unmarried sister Adela(trans as Adda) 52 bn Powerstock
Osmond is married, no spouse listed.
Submitted error for Adela also, her baptism in familysearch, IGI d/o George & Elizabeth.
Percy C birth listed in Free BMD sep qtr 1872 St Thomas district
Just adding this for your records.
Good luck

'lo tis me again
Osmond is with his wife in 1901 in Elmstead.
Adelaide 22 is there as d in law bn Australia & little Mary Elizabeth bn Elmstead. No Percy
They have a visitor George Ernest Della Monntaiger he's 18 born Australia...
Should it be Austria??
findmyp## have a Percy C Cookson bn 1873 leaving London for Durban 1904 and again in 1914 to Cape.
Are you sure 1894 marr is correct year?
They only have a 1yr old in 1901 & Adelaide is 22, she would have been only 15/16 at time of marriage???
In 1904 shipping there is an "H" Elizabeth Cookson at the same time as Percy born 1879..which fits with 1901.
I look forward to hearing from you..

This is the right family.

Thanks for submitting the errors/corrections.

Adelaide is still a bit elusive. The marriage date is correct.;) A very kind soul sent me the French document on this marriage.

Thanks

Michelle
