I wonder if anyone can find Cornelius M Percy's orbituary. He was a miner born in Cambusnethan, Lanark Scotland in 1846 and died in Wigan in 1903. He worked his way up till he was a qualified Mining Engineer and helped set up an institute in Wigan. He campained vigourously sucessfully for the Miners working day to be cut. He wrote many leaflets and articles campaigning for this and also stood as a Liberal Candidate in a general ellection. He didn,t win but lost by a small amount in a constituency that had previously been staunchly conservative so obviously a popular very persuasive man.
