I am 99% sure my g grandad died in 1920, but he is listed on 1921 census?

He was Joseph Firth born wakefield 1875. He married Emma Eliza Parker. His death address matches to other documents I have. He is shown as deceased on my grandmother's marriage cert in 1925.

any ideas?

Hi and welcome to the forum.

Have you looked at the full 1921 census schedule for Joseph Firth? Does the address on the census match his death cert address?

Could there have been 2 Joseph Firth's born about 1875 in Wakefield, one died in 1920 (your one) and the 1921 man is someone else?

Maybe he was enumerated by mistake, even though he had died a year earlier.

Have you got the death certificate to congirm that the death is your g grandad and not another person with the same dob?

Hi
Many thanks for your replies.
I haven't seen the full census schedule (only what you can see for free on find my past)
I can only see the one birth around 1875.
I think it is likely he was enumerated by mistake.
My grandma married a couple of years later and Joseph is listed as deceased on that certificate

One has to remember that people fill in census forms and they can get confused.
I have seen many census forme where family members have been deceased but are on the forms, a lot of forms have the deceased person crossed out!
I have also evidence that some people are on the forme residing at 2 separate addresses!
I take them with a pinch of salt in that they are indication and are definately not gospel!

Yes, I do agree people could get confused. I have also seen deceased people crossed out on census.
As you say, probably just use as a guide.
Thanks
Julie

I posted this on another site as well. Someone replied saying she was listed as head and a widow, the household also had my grandma and Emma Eliza's father included. Joseph was listed at the same place, but as a separate entry. he was also listed as head - divorced.
