The vol and page number. It has been transcribed as vol 6 page 451 on free bmd/Ancestry. The page no looks like 457 to me.

Hi Julie

I think its 451 If you look at other 5s the top bar slopes down as does our subject. If you look at the 7s the top of the down stroke starts very thin getting thicker as it goes down. It also goes further than the base line. A 1 is the same thickness all the way down. Our one, the slope of the 5 touches it making it look like 7

Just to make things worse, FMP transcibed it as 6/451 ie a Vl, instead of Xl

Hi Dave,

I was just ordering the certificate when your reply came. Have now left the references off. With a reference the certificate would have been dispatched 13th Dec without 30 Dec. So just a little bit of a longer wait.

Thanks.

Dave, the other ones there do not have that top bar from the 7. The number underneath for the next person is 697 with the 7 done the same way. I copied the sheet to infranview and increased the magnification to 1328x1705.

Hi Sparky I still think its a 1 If you look at all the other 7s on the page the vertical line goes well below the base line as does the 9. there are about 4 instances the same as Julies where the top line from a preceeding 5 and only a 5 touches the 1 making it look like a 7 but they do not have the tail.
