Coventry? Also, crossing the pond?

Does anyone have a link to a good site for finding out what English county a town is in? Right now, I am specifically looking for Coventry, but I have a feeling I may be running into this problem again.

Also, has anyone here researched ancestors who have immigrated from England to Australia? Can you recommend any sites for this type of research?

Just a note that might help as well. A lot of the county boundaries changed in the 1970's (I think it was 1974). I was born in Bournemouth which, in 1945, was in Hampshire - it is now in Dorset - so it can get a bit confusing. I know you have mentioned Coventry however if you are looking for other towns it pays to look at old and new maps.
