COVID-19 check up

In Australia. Australia has fared pretty good in comparison to other countries. People whinging of course that they cant do this or cant do that but in all fairness what the government has put in place appears to be working for us. The town i live in has had one reported case several weeks ago and nothing since apparently he come home after been overseas and self isolated as soon as he arrived [that was before the isolating in hotels etc come in]
Most people are doing the right thing but of course there are those who think they are "entitled" to do what they want and that the rules shouldnt apply to them. My thoughts on that is they should just man up and do what has to be done and stop their whinging and complaining.
I have been filling in time with babysitting 5 year old grandson, as he has health issues he gets to come to me when his parents have shopping or appointments. Been doing some work in the yard and getting back into doing some family history as well.

Here in Mallacoota Victoria we have had a double wammie with the huge fire New Year where we were totally isolated till mid Feb and now this.. the only thing that is really cheesing us off is that one can go kayaking, canoeing, rowing, swimming, surfing down here but not allowed to go to the dump so gardening is out or near a jetty or our moored boats or fishing.... to most of the "oldies" down here it is their escape from nagging partners, their time out to switch off and that has to be one of the worst.. other than that we are lucky that there is nothing in town, even though we have a lot of workers coming in and out doing fire clean ups..

All fine here in Essex, we live in one of the lowest areas for reported deaths although my local hospital is Basildon which has the highest death rate in seven counties in the East.
Doing my daily walk of about 4k which I was already doing before the lockdown to help with the arthritis in my knees. I hate grocery shopping always have, but I'm glad to go to Sainsbury's once a week to get out of the house.
My 91 year old mother lives with us and hasn't been out since the lock down, she was in hospital in December with the flu or something, I say or something because she had already had a flu vaccination at the end of October just as I had done. Both myself and my husband were unwell.
I've never had the flu after having the vaccination before which I thought was strange as it isn't a live vaccine

In Cheshire, where I live, the number of cases reported is over 1000 BUT no information as to those that did not make it. My neighbours and I are all in the same age group and have acted sensibly, (my good friends thinks that's a first), but we think that time has not dragged as we thought. For me personally, at least 7 events cancelled - it's a busy time of the year for Forces-related events - but the bank balance is healthy. As no one had any previous experience of how to cope with this pandemic, my heart goes out to all those trying to deal with it. I do think that we should all be singing "I want to break free!"
Hya Gibbo, hope you are well and settled.. we arrived in Tin Can Bay 2 weeks ago (house rented to essential workers for couple of months) so came up, just did 14 days iso... almost drove us mad especially after being virtually isolated since 1st Jan - but now free and looking forward to getting some sense of normality back. Was getting worried as to what I would need to join 1st tho.... weight watchers or Alcoholics annon lol...
Been isolated never bothered me much. Been to Townsville twice in that time which was allowed with it been due to medical otherwise hung out with the little fella a lot. I did join the local recycle fb page and picked up some small pieces of furniture that had been knocked around a bit and did them up.
Im so %^^%$ angry! I always knew there were nasty people around but did not realise just how many until lately. When i go to our Premiers fb page the amount of name calling directed at people who make spelling mistakes with the word border. A lot write boarder and then the abuse starts, they get called morons, idiots and humiliate them and so on all because they spell a word wrong. You would think with everything going on in the world today that a spelling error would be the least of problems and people should be kinder to each other and supportive, but, nope the nasty ones just come out of the woodwork. Im disgusted. Rant over for now.
As someone that has always been pedantic about accurate spelling - it was inbred as a clerk in the Regiment - neither I nor any of my colleagues would ever criticise publicly the failings of one of the team. The last guy I mentored in the Regiment stayed in, did the full service and ended up as a Major, and we still chat about the arrival of things like an electric typewriter and printer - I remember the words, "What will they invent next?" My rant over!!

Some great news that did come out today is they found a 14 year old autistic boy who had been lost in the bush for 3 days, alive and well. Got to love a good news story

Yeah, got a bit silly now, Gibbo.. It seems to happen a fair bit on social media. So unnecessary, it's probably a subject on its own, with a number of people agreeing or disagreeing on any point. For that reason I wouldn't take the discussion further. Yourself and Brian have the measure of the problem.
I've often seen these people called the 'Grammar Police' for whatever reason.. Not sure how to react to that?

My club in London (Victory Services Club) closed to the members immediately, but remained open for key workers,
like military people (up to about 50 or so)who were drafted in to Government, Hospitals etc. A team of staff volunteered to live in to cater
for them by supplying all their meals direct to the rooms. Over 30 staff work from home, keeping the place going.
When they re-open the doors to us members, I shall be on a train, faster than you can blink. At least I've not started talking to the walls yet??

Humans will be humans. Some are humble, others are just plain ignorant. Then there are others who just want to prove a point. As for spelling errors, I do plenty of those, and I don't care if people pick up on it. Those that pick me out, know what I said in the first place, as they can actually read it. They show themselves up by not realising it. Who's the fool then.

So due to being classed as "Extremely vulnerable" by the government we (Wife) have been locked in for the last 3 months or more!
This government has failed in this whole Coronavirus episode (NOT being Political!)

As a number of you know, that I have progressive MS since I was 60 - 5 years ago, so I spend a lot less time on the computer. I cannot read easily and cannot remember things and its very hard to make new memories! So due to being classed as "Extremely vulnerable" by the government we (Wife) have been locked in for the last 3 months or more!
