Six more CRAIG children on census, two children have middle of MILLER.

Hello crankypants,

Thanks for looking.

It looks like it's not the right family. Daniel's middle name is McCALLUM and his birth has an extracted IGI entry. This looks like his father's first marriage:

Spouse: Agnes MC CALLUM
Marriage: 19 Nov 1830 Paisley Abbey, Renfrew

hence the rough birth date I gave for John.

Regards,

Dave

Hi Dave

No problems. Actually I came back to this one when I was searching the HOUSTON name and wondered were there any (craig/houston) marriages.
Just going by one of my crazy ideas.

I have three LAVIS/CULLEN/BARLETT families from Pitney/Low Ham area that all seemed to want to marry each another. Now that's crazy!!!!

cheers

Hello crankypants,

I only knew about Janet's marriage to John CRAIG because the name appeared in the death certificate of a daughter:

"846 Mary Clark ANGEL Shawl Warehousewoman (Single) - 1923 September Tenth 2h 55m PM 15 Craw Road (No Rm: 7 Sir Michael Street [Pl]) Paisley - F - 68 years - Samuel Angel Locomotive Stoker (deceased) Janet Angel afterwards Craig M.S. Arrol (deceased) - Carcinoma of stomach as cert. by J M L Wright L.R.C.P.- Daniel Craig Half-Brother Locher Cottage Bridge-of-Weir - 1923 September 10th at Paisley Wm L Campbell [Registrar]"

The PEACOCK/PEACOCK marriage is one of the few I've had like that. No progress on that one.

Regards,

Dave

Yes please, I'd like the listing because Janet died in 1868. So It looks as though John married a 3rd time.

Dave

Hello juliejtp,

Thank you very much. No doubt that is Daniel but I have no clue at all re the rest of the family. None of those ARROLs are in my tree. Now I have to find out how they fit in.

Please see if you can find Mary and the children in 1881. If we work backwards first we might find her spouse. It could possibly be a James and a Mary THOMSON. But I don't have a James who would fit for the following marriage:

James ARROL Spouse: Mary THOMSON
Marriage: 2 Nov 1858 Abbey (Paisley), Renfrew

Dave

Hello juliejtp,

Thanks for the listings.

Well now  I don't have a William ARROL either. I wonder if it is coincidence that Daniel was with an ARROL family or if there is some close connection between William and his mother. I wonder if William is a sibling of James b. abt 1821 and Janet b. abt 1827 ? No William in IGI in Renfrew.born around the right time. Looks like I'm out of luck.

Regards,

Dave

Hello crankypants,

Thank you very much. Please see if you can find them in 1861. I hope by going back I'll get more clues as to how this William ARROL fits in my tree. There are many more members of that family than I expected.

Thanks,

Dave

Hello crankypants,

Thank you very much. You have just doubled the number of children for John ARROL and his spouse Ann TYTLER.

Death
Ann Arrol, widow of John Arrol (Weaver)
Died: 22nd August 1863, aged 78yrs
At: 69 Causeyside Street Paisley
Her parents:
William Tytler, Writers Clerk (deceased)
Christina Tytler MS Langmuir (deceased)
Cause of death: Palsy - 10 weeks
Informant: James Arrol, 65 Canal Street Paisley

Spouse John died before 17 Feb 1853 the date in the Paisley Paupers Index entry for daughter Janet b. abt 1827.

So far I don't have Ann in 1861. She is not with son James and his family nor with son William and his family.

An entry in the Paupers Index in 1853 for Ann's daughter Janet: " Lives with Mother who keeps children in her absence."

They are together somewhere with some of Janet's children in 1861. John died 1858 so the only one left is Mary C.

So this should be them in 1861:
Ann b. abt 1793
dau Janet b. abt 1827
grand dau Mary C b. 1855

The other child I had was James b. abt 1821 who married Jean (Jane) BUTCHARD /BUTCHART (we have not looked at that family yet).

James is not with his mother and siblings in 1851. I have him in 1861 but so far he can't be found in 1851.

John and Ann married in 1815 so I was expecting more than two children. Now William b. abt 1818 and Elizabeth can be added. No sign of so many of these in IGI. I'll go with 1818 for William for now. There is still a gap for more children.

1881
Civil parish Paisley Abbey
William Arrol head age 59 occ harness weaver born Paisley
Ann McGee Arrol wife age 46 born Paisley
A nice clue there.

1891
Civil parish Paisley abbey
Address 5, Alice Place, Neilson Street
Mary Arrol head age 57 born Ireland
James Arrol age 28 occ warehouse porter born Paisley
David Arrol age 22 occ house house painter born Paisley
Robert Arrol age 18 occ carter born Paisley
Thomas Arrol age 14 occ bleachfield worker born Paisley
Daniel Craig boarder age 25 occ shawl weaver born Paisley
Still Neilsen St - the children without their parents. I wonder who Mary is?

Regards,

Dave
