D-Day 6th June 1944 - We Shall Remember Them!

The Normandy landings, codenamed Operation Neptune, were the landing operations of the Allied invasion of Normandy, in Operation Overlord, during World War II.

The landings commenced on Tuesday, June 6, 1944 (D-Day), beginning at 6:30 AM British Double Summer Time (GMT+2).

While the invasion was an outstanding success generally, my father along with thousands of other military personnel were continuing the fight years before, in North Africa, and from there up through Italy, via Sicily & Monte Casino.

He had one week home leave(for further training), in nearly 7 years, which resulted in my sister being concieved.;):)

How lucky was she.:2fun::2fun:

D-Day is always remembered, and rightly so, but there are so many other anniversaries that have been forgotten, and having spoken to quite a few WWII veterans, even they still do not want to talk about them.
My motto is "Let us remember out past with pride and honour".
