1897 DEATHS in the District of Dunfermline in the County of Fife
No. 488 - David Christie Stewart Slater (Master) Widower of Elizabeth Sands - 1897 December Eleventh 2h 0m A.M. 22 Holyrood Place Dunfermline - M - 76 years - William Stewart Damask Weaver (Decd.) Beky Stewart M.S. Cliff (Decd.) - Stricture of Oesophagus 3 months as Cert. by A. J. Macgregor M.D. - William Stewart his x mark Son 26 Carnegie Street James Walls Registrar Witness - 1897 December 11th At Dunfermline James Walls Registrar [B. in right margin]

That's one death I got from SP earlier this week. No need to post any part of the image as it is easy to read. Bit surprised eldest son Wiliam only made his mark x. He was also a slater by trade.

The death certificate is the only place I've so far seen where David has a middle name. Now that I have his parents names the search continues ...

Very few CLIFF families in 1841 census for Scotland and no sign of any named Beky with any surname in 1851.

And the search quickly comes to a halt.

Thanks Elywn.

I have the date. That's one I did not get from SP.

I don't get many pre-1855 records from SP. I prefer to get the 1855 birth records and post 1855 death records.

I'll do that thanks Elwyn.

I posted that bit just to show I was not seeing things with the name Beky Cliff. :)

I have about 20 death certificates from SP and that one is the easiest to read.

It's very clearly Beky Cliff.

I'm still stuck. No sign of her as Elizabeth or whatever or her parents.

Not solving your problem but there were Cliffs in Dunfermline

Marriage
5/11/1797 CLIFF BETTY HUGH GRAHAM/FR3190 (FR3190) F DUNFERMLINE /FIFE

There is a William Stewart on his own born 1786 in the 41 at Dunfermline and a linen weaver.

would Beky not be more likely to be Rebecca. Are there any Rebeccas in David's children?

Ah Margaret then unless a missing child there. Yes, they seem to be using the naming patterns

The Christie could be a grandmother.

Will try and find other Cliffs or a Cliff/Christie connection

Thanks Barbara.

Not sure if we are missing just one or none or even three children because there are two later gaps of about 3 years.
