Hi Lighty

Sutherland is a very common name up in Caithness so I am surprised there are not more coming up. I did David Sutherland born Thurso around 1891 +/- 4 years and only got two. One below born 1891 and one born 1893. Do you have any info to be sure you get the right one?

sorry Lighty, just realised you want 1911 but the only way you can get that is by accessing Scotlandspeople which costs you a few credits. Which one of those I found is yours by the way?

Dave,
There are 12 Davids born in Thurso in 1890-1891 but none with the surname Banks or Sutherland.

I am not altogether sure about this family. Would be happier if I could find the marriage of Margaret and John which also seems to be missing.

Hi Barbara
I only have census trans to go on. This is the 1901
John Mcadie 50
Maggie Mcadie 31
David Sutherland 10
John Mcadie 4
George Mcadie 1
Maggie S Banks 12

It says, David was born Thurso. Full trans posted earlier. Just a thought, could Maggie have been married to a Banks before Mcadie, and if so is there a mge between Banks and Mcadie?

Hi Dave,

Donaldina was the illegitimate daughter of Elizabeth Sutherland and was registered at birth as Donaldina Banks Sutherland. It could be that the census was transcribed badly and the children all had Banks as middle name. there is no father in the parent column.

Hi,

Margaret Sutherland married George McAdie 1937 Glanford Brigg Lincolnshire. The marriage index for 1929 John Mcadie spouse Banks district Southwark. There isnt a Banks on the index image with spouse Mcadie, so I dont know what happened there.

Hi Barbara
I go along with the Banks being Elizabeth's children not Maggies. This ties in with Maggie Banks being marked as Niece in 1901, and David who is probably Maggies child, being a Sutherland,
