I have no information that David left Fife for those 30 odd years.

In looking for the death of his father James I found this death that fits for age at death and name but nothing else:

James SWAN death 1863 Cupar, Fife, Scotland born 1782 +/- 1 year

1863 SWAN JAMES M 81 CUPAR /FIFE 420/00 0046

Flour miller married to Elizabeth EDMANSTON - Informant son James.

1863 April Twenty Second 10h 30m am South Tece Cupar EDIT: It is South Toll

M 81 years

To confirm I have the details correct a copy of part of the death certificate.

Thank you very much. No need to chase that James SWAN any further. It confirms I don't have the right death for James and probably not the right one for William either. Cupar is as far NE of Markinch, the family origin, as Dunerfmline is to the SW. No reason for any of my SWANs to be in Cupar. So, two deaths I still need to find.

I'm having no luck finding deaths for two Margaret SWANs or for James or William. I hope we have some luck with Andrew then. Please see if Andrew is still alive in 1861. Thanks. At least I'm getting credits at the right time of the year.

A death in Markinch in 1857 for an Andrew SWAN born 1786 +/- 1

All I need now is to spend 6 credits and find the death certificate has no other info.

Looks as though Lochie dies in 1864 in same parish.

I have no marriage and no death yet and so far not found in 1841.
