Ann Watson born abt 1818 Govan, Lanark - parents David and Christian/Christina Buchanan. I can't find a baptism.

Perhaps Christina was a widow when she married David - Is Buchanan her maiden name?

Looking at the census it appears as though David remarried. I can't find either marriage. Is Isabell's maiden name Napier?

That does appear to be the only one that fits.

Interesting point.. Following Andrew b. c1848, from 1881 he uses the middle initial and sometimes Inglis. That said he uses [J] in 1881, but he is with brother Alexander, so possibly the same one.

This helps..

Thanks Geoff.

There is a problem given these ...

David c. 2 Oct 1845 TOLBOOTH CHURCH, EDINBURGH, MIDLOTHIAN
Father: D. Watson
Batch: C195093

Andrew Inglis c. 18 April 1848 TOLBOOTH CHURCH, EDINBURGH, MIDLOTHIAN
parents: Watson

Alexander c. 13 June 1850 TOLBOOTH CHURCH, EDINBURGH, MIDLOTHIAN
parents: David Watson

That would mean all three were baptised twice because there are reg with mother as Napier. Or we have two families. ??

Well, it seems some remarry using married name.

I have several who married twice from info in death certificate but second marriage not found on index in SP.

I have one who married three times but can't find that at the moment.

All three baptised about a month later at Tolbooth - or the above are births and not the usual baptisms. If the records contains a birth date and a baptism date it's the baptism date that appears in the index. If there is no baptism date then it's the birth date. You can only tell by purchasing the record or by checking on FS for extracted IGI batch records that will tell you.

Very rare to get separate birth and baptism records.

I have one more thing to check. Ok the records on SP for Tolbooth Church have the date of baptism as per IGI

David c. 2 Oct 1845 TOLBOOTH CHURCH, EDINBURGH, MIDLOTHIAN
Father: D. Watson
Batch: C195093

Looks like the same family and Inglis comes from further up the tree on Watson or Napier side.

We still don't know if that David in 1841 and 1851 census is the father of Ann Watson born Lanark abt 1818

Ann McLuckie
Died 16 May 1860
Age - 42 [not on index record]
Father - David Watson
Mother - Christina Watson M.S. Buchanan

and can't find the marriage to fit parents as listed.
