Hello Barbara,

Thank you very much.

I'd have no hope of finding the family in FreeCEN with Isabella as 'Isai' and Elizabeth as 'Elisa' but I'll try again now. :)

Regards,

Dave

Elizabeth's middle name is McNicol. :)

NSW Death 4516/1923 MACKELLAR ELIZABETH M - JAMES - ISOBEL - WALGETT

McKELLAR.-March 5, 1923, at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. T. T. Fripp, Beethoven, Rowena, Elizabeth McNicol, widow of the late Neil McKellar, of Moongulla Station, aged 82 years.

A tree has this death for James:

1862 Died at Sea on Ship "Orwell", Coast of Africa

He was not on his way to Australia:

DAVIDSON James, wife, 3 ch arrived in SA 1847-10-13 aboard Lady MacNaghten (Lady McNaughton) from London 1847-07-01 [Source:6]

so he must have been going to Scotland or returning from a visit to Scotland. ???

His father John died 1826 Peterhead according to the tree.

Elizabeth McNicol b. 1794 and died 1820 so it seems there were only two sons:

James b. 1817
John b. 1820

I think it will remain a mystery, Barbara. :)

Thanks for looking. I can't find the marriage.

Oh. I didn't add that the tree has John b. 1820 Scoonie, Fife.

No info re John senior's occupation.

I don't know if the 'John' bit and his death is accurate or not. All I know is that Elizabeth's middle name was McNicol.

John b. 1820 also ended up in Victoria but I'm not chasing him.

Regards,

Dave
