Hi everyone, I've had some help from some kind folk on here in the start of my search on the Morton family and I've done quite a lot of work since then. However, I'm now stuck on the death of a James Morton/Murton. I would be very grateful if anyone has a little time to spare to have a look for him in case I've missed him somewhere. This is the information I have on him.
James Morton/Murton born 1776/77 Middleton Teasdale
Married a Hannah Richardson in 1802/3
He is in the 1841 Census at Sherburn Hill Durham
Hannah dies in 1847 at Sherburn Hill.
Can't find him in the 1851 Census
Reappears and James aged 84 is living with his son John Morton/Murton in the census of 1861 at Shincliffe Durham.
I can't find his death or burial anywhere. He can't have gone far or lived much longer than that age.
His son John is living in Tudhoe without him in 1871 Census
many thanks.

Hi RJS,

On the partial bmd index there are 6 James Morton's who died between 1861-1865 (no year of birth given) in the county of Durham. From 1866 to 1872 there are 7 of them but the years of birth are far out from your James.
