Hi

I am trying to obtain my grandfathers Service Records from the MOD but I need to send a copy of his death certificate with the forms but he was killed on the 31st July 1917 in the 3rd Battle of the Somme and has no known grave.

How do I get a death certificate in these circumstances?

Many thanks in anticipation

The above entry says FORMERLY 203126, NORTHANTS REGT. as well as the Machine Gun corps information which you already have.

Also Ancestry has the UK Army Register of Soldier's Effects, it says he was owed £1.14s.7d which was paid out on 1.12.17 and his widow got a "war gratuity" of £3 on 31.10.19.

Good luck with the service record, I thought all the existing records were available on-line so it is interesting to see that others can be obtained from the MOD.
