Hi Ellie, i have i think family history im Newtownards, N.Ireland.. Grey abbey, the Montgomerys and Hamiltons. I wish you luck with your searches. Mine are too far back to get certificates, so relying on baptismal records. I'm not sure if Irish records are on FreeBMD or not as i haven't checked there

Maidmarian,

You haven’t said what denomination you are searching. You need to know that to determine which records you need. RC records are on-line on a number of sites eg Ancestry but many other denominations are not.

You can tell what is available, parish by parish using the PRONI guide to church records. They hold copies of most, but not all, of the surviving church records for Ulster. A personal visit to PRONI in Belfast is required to view them.
