Hi there,

John Roberts married Elizabeth Polhill on 26 April 1798 at St Marys the Virgin, Dover, Kent. They had 6 children between the years 1799 and 1818, all in Dover, Kent.
John was a Lieutenant of Royal Navy when he got married and retired as a Commander H.M.S. Terrible. He was made freeman of Dover in 1802 by virtue of his marriage to Elizabeth Polhill.

Could some one please help me find a death for John and Elizabeth.

Kind regards
Jackie

Hi Jackie,

Do you think that they died before 1837? If they did then there won't be a death certificate but you would have to look in the parish registers for a burial.

Have you looked on The National Archives website to see if there is a will for him?

I can't see a will for John on TNA but there are a few hits for Polhill in Dover, they might be worth a look and may mention rellies and whether they were alive or not.

@Tom @jack did you ever find anything further here on the Roberts line? I am a direct descendant, however I unfortunately cannot find who John's parents were. For Elizabeth, there is significant history to the Polhill line.

Thanks!

Steve
