I am trying to help a good friend with their ancestry -
Can anyone please find Denis Moore (spelt only 1 N on his marriage cert) , wife Ann and children Marcella b 1882, John b 1885, Kate b 1887 and Ann b 1889 all in Liverpool. Denis was a dock labourer but they cannot be found on the 1881 or 1891 records.

Thanks
Karen

I cannot thank you enough Nannie. These people have driven my friends and me nuts for over a year. I just spent all day yesterday and today trying to find census records for them I am a member of A*** so will find and print.
Once again THANK YOU :kissu: :kissu: :kissu: :kissu: :kissu: :kissu:

Hi Karen in the light of your info I'd say this would be the 2 girls inmates in 1901 census at Bishop OReillys Memorial Poor Law School West Derby.
(from memory I think the Sisters of Charity ran it)
Any luck with Marcella?
Did Denis marry in 1878??
If M was their first child, it was a long wait back then:)

There's a John 16 bn Lpool in 1901 listed as adopted son??
Living with Moore's over the water??
Worth keeping to one side I reckon.

Thanks for finding the girls. The son John James is my friend's grandad. He's a pain to find as well!
Denis married Ann Hughes in 1879 so I guess they waited 3 years to have Marcella. We lost her too but Dave found her in Cheshire on the 1911 with an illegitimate son William. If I can find the 1881 it may have other children before Marcella
Thanks heaps
Kaz

Hi I haven't read all the posts on this thread, but a birth must be reg within 42 days after birth. If born 27 Nov 1882 and not reg until say 40 days after, that would bring us into the 1st Qtr of 1883. hope this helps sort out the problem

Hi
My friend has her birth cert with father as Dennis Moore and mother as Ann Kelly but we know he was married to Ann Hughes which we found the cert for. We cannot find a marriage to Ann Kelly? He married Ann Hughes 1879 which leads us to think he had an affair?
On 1891 census she is listed as the daughter of Dennis and Ann(Hughes). We have other birth cert fro son John James which is my friend's grandad that states Dennis Moore and Ann Hughes as parents so we are very puzzled.
My belief is that we have 2 families mixed up but my friend is ardamant that Marcella belongs to his family. He's been going crackers and now I have started to assist I am too!

I will throttle my friend - just sent him an email to tell him that too
I looked at his previous posts to nannie and he says the marriage of Dennis and Ann has her address listed as 29 Snowden St. I found a long time ago an 1881 census with Dennis and Ann Moore at 29 Snowden St, all family born in Ireland.
He is sure though that there was a Marcella in the family - his aunt told him of her. I think the son Dennis at 29 Snowden St is his line - possibly he had John James who married Ann Jane Honan? This is possible as he is listed as being 24 in 1881. What do you think?
