Deportation Question

Thanks to my previous post and members help I found the person I was looking for, but now I have an odd situation. George William Pargeter. SS Saxonia Nov 16, 1909

I know when he came over via the New York port in 1914 and settled but then found he previously attempted to enter the United States at Boston. Stamped on his name is "Deported per S/S".

This was in 1909, I tried to attach the image but it was too large. Sorry, not adept enough to shrink a picture. I also googled "deportation codes" "reasons for deportation" and a few other differently worded inquiries with no findings. Does anyone know what that means? While researching I found that anyone looking ill or sickly was deported but am not sure if this applies.
