Hello all

Newbie here.

I have a photograph of my my mum and me with Annie Dickens(of Charles Dickens), taken in 1982 in Hereford, when I was 16.

Until now I did not know very much about it - until last week. Through the internet - lots of people have been kind and helped me, and I have sent off for a couple of certificates.

This is what I now know?

Annie Elizabeth Dickens apparently passed away in Hereford in 1998, aged 101

My grandad (mum's dad), was Frank Ken Bliss and he married Elsie Stewart
Grandad: 9th May 1913 - 2nd June 1989

My great grandad was Frank Bliss and he married Edith Kate Dickens on 21st May 1899, in Willesden

Now I am stuck.

I would like to know the relationship between Annie Elizabeth Dickens and Edith Kate Dickens - along with any other information if possible.

Any help would be much appreciated

Hiya

Thank you for reply

I am not sure how widespread the Dickens family are. I know there are a lot in America

The ones I am looking for, came from Stewkley, Bucks - and Annie was in Hereford when I met her, and that is where she passed away

Hello Steve

Thank you for your reply

Now, I am a bit blonde - so you will have to be gentle with me lol

Can you please explain more about what you have posted to me?

I know it is late - so don't worry if you cannot do it now

Very novice

As you mentioned Edith KATE was from Winslow, and the marriage in London gives fathers name as John. The census return is the most likely for Edith(Kate).

1881 census.

Name: Edith Dickins
Age: 4
abt 1877
Relation: Daughter
Father John Dickins
Mother Elizth. Dickins
Female
Highgate, Middlesex, England
Civil Parish: Hornsey
Middlesex

John Dickins 42
Elizth. Dickins 43
Emily Dickins 21
Fredk. Dickins 12
Edith Dickins 4

It appears the father is the same one, but a different mother. So I assume the two women your'e asking about are HALF sisters. Same father, different mothers.

Hiya Steve

Thank you for the info - very interesting.

I have been trying to find out who their mothers were - if they had the same father. Did he marry again, or did he have an affair?

No luck at the moment with my research - but I will keep plugging away :)

Hi Goody,

It will take someone with a lot more experience than me to sort it out, so hopefully another member will pick this up.

I have the parish regs on disc for Cheddington, Bucks (Ann Dickins aged 31 birth place), but until it's unravelled, I can't be much more help.

If Ann was single when she married there are a few BAPTISM candidates in Cheddington from 1858-1865 baptisms.

Anna Marie Westley-1860.
Annie Sophia Clerk - 1860. (parents of London)
Annie Cooper - 1860.
Annie Lucinda Gale - 1863.
Annie Gower - 1865.

But until the marriages are sorted out, these are just names.

Hello Lee

Thank you for that

I went all through those names earlier - no luck.
