After three years of intensive research I have managed to complete most of my family tree with the exception of my maternal grandfather, Albert Edward Matnardwho appears never to have existed until he married my grandma in 1913. To complicate matters the date of birth in the 1939 Register (and in the probate record) is given as October 9th 1869. On his wedding certificate his age is given as 39 in 1913, making his birth year 1874. Whatever the date, every search has proved fruitless. On the wedding certificate he gives his father's name as Thomas, a deceased bricklayer. I have even found a couple of bricklayers called Thomas Maynard, but they don't seem to have a son called Albert Edward Maynard. I have searched Free DMB, as well as tracing every Albert Edward Maynard's descendants. Anyone got any ideas?????
