With William Wallace I was trying to find out when came to Australia, I have looked all over the place with no luck, I see on the web other people have not found the answer.

You might have to obtain William's death cert and see what is on that. I have just asked a friend who has a 1901 NSW death cert. and hers has noted how long the deceased had been in the colony for.
Maybe you might get lucky with William's death cert. and it might note how long he had been here for as well, keeping in mind on how much the informant knew and i would work a year or 2 either side of that. Might help narrow down arrivals.
His death cert. should also note all of his kids, alive and deceased at the time of his death so that will help clear up any confusion with his off spring.

Thanks I will have to get William's death cert and go from there.
I am a member of the local Family History Society I can get help from there as well. RootsWeb's WorldConnect Project have many familys connected to William Wallace. Also Ancestry have some also.
Thomas Michael Dixon had 7 Children with Elizabeth Smith or Schmidt maybe a name change. How can you check that?

I had a look before and i couldnt find a marriage for Thomas. For some strange reason a lot of registrations for this family appear to be missing.

Birth /Deaths and Marriages for NSW can be searched on the below link. Births only go up as far as 1913.

Ausset might have to obtain the above birth cert. as well to confirm that Thomas's parents are infact the same William Dixon whose arrival we are looking for.

I dont usually jam cert. down at people cause they can get expensive but i dont think his going to be able to sort any of it out without obtaining a couple as there are very few records of this family anywhere else.

It's interesting you say that, I've just started looking at errors. I believe Ausset said Thomas Michael was her direct line...

Interesting that one one of the offspring has Wallace as a middle name though

There are a few Dixon's with Wallace as a second name. Yesterday in Trove i found a death for another William Wallace Dixon in the 1950's in VIC.

Yep, point taken... we can't be 100% sure that the W is Wallace as Lionel's middle name...

Are you saying that Thomas Michael born 1879 is brother to Olive and Colin?
