I have Hannah's birth date down tentatively as 1861. If Joseph was sent to India directly from Gibraltar, then that would, more-or-less, confirm an Indian marriage. Would he have required special dispensation from commanding officers to marry? If so, I wonder if this may be in records held by the Lancashire Infantry Museum. They may have some other clue if he was in the LNL Regiment in 1890 when he died.

I'm leaning towards a marriage in India, to be honest, for the dates to match up. Without a confirmed maiden name though, I cannot be 100% sure when her birth date was, but it does tie up with the 1911 census where she says she is 51. I'm using Mahoney as a potential name to gather further evidence, but I'm not going to settle on it until I can find something more concrete.
