Death in Qld:
8 Feb 1890/C0601 Patterson Janet - George Donald - Jane Galbraith

Is that the Jane baptised in 1844? I have no age at death.

There are no other deaths in 1890 for Jean/Jane/Janet. Possibly there is an error in the index and it should be 28 Feb. So far I can't find a notice in TROVE.

I don't know why the burial record has just the year.

3800/1869 PATTERSON ANTHONY - HEYDON ANNE - YASS

Qld. Birth reg:

So I'm supposed to believe Janet married at age 14 in 1858 and then had her first child in 1872 ???

Looking at the marriages in Yass and then these deaths:

Deaths
8007/1899 PATTERSON ANTHONY - THOMAS - MARY - YASS
12397/1903 PATTERSON JOHN - THOMAS - MARY - YASS

That's probably Mary Jane DODD.

This has to be a different John if he was born in 1844 in Scotland.

Anthony born 1842 in Scotland.

The James who married Catherine is not a brother.

I find it a bit hard to believe there are three different PATTERSON families in Yass. One from Armagh in Ireland, Robert & Janet (BOYD) from Roxburghshire in Scotland and Thomas & Mary Jane (DODD) arriving at a different time from Sanquhar, Dumfries.

This is getting very weird:

Info on George DONALD Junior - HERE

I will look up the 1844 baptism on film next week. Bet it is a church in Sydney not Yass.

So we are back to Jane b. 1844, marries in 1858 and children born from 1872 ???

By coincidence marries the odd one out in Yass - the only PATTERSON not born in Scotland.

Thanks gibbo. :)

Well, I still think it is weird. :2fun:

Three different PATTERSON families in Yass and a marriage at age 14 and then children born 12 years later.

All the Hamilton connections too with Chermside.

A daughter of William George married a Hamilton and my grandmother died in Chermside aged 99.

It does seem weird. I wondered at first if births werent registered around the 1859 era as that is when QLD come into been but according to trees etc and the links there dont seem to be any kids before 1870. Maybe she had some miscarriages with been so young:confused:

Hard to know because all the different trees have no inf re that. Or even info about when and why they ended up in Qld.

It means I have one more in my tree from Ireland. :D

I suppose there is only one question left and that is does anyone have John's arrival?

I notice not all the trees have Janet DONALDs birth in Yass. I'll try and check it tomorrow. I think it will be a baptism in Sydney in 1844.

Next time I'm in the State Library I'll check if the marriage in Yass was a CofE one. If it is then I know what film to search. If it's not CofE then I guess it's Presbyterian and it will be very hard to find the right reel.

The CofE index is on fiche so it's easy to find the parish for marriages and baptisms. Once you know it's CofE and what parish it's easy to find what reel to search.

26 June - 5 Feby. 1844 - Jane - George Donald & Jane Galbraith - Sydney - Stonemason - Rev. J. McGarvie D.D.

The marriage is going to be hard to find.

Yes, born 5 Feb 1844 and baptised 26 June 1844.

I will still search for the marriage on film but it will take some finding.

I'm finding about 10% of the reg I look up have errors in the number or the volume or the date or the name.

I was looking for a Wesleyan one in Goulburn Co Argyle and the batch the volume and number was for Ipswich Co Stanley.

Thanks gibbo. ;)

Have I got the right death ? I'd better re-read this topic. That didn't help. :D

George married Jane in 1830. Notice says Elizabeth.

According to the shipping record George was born in 1809 not 1813.

What made me search Victoria and a date around 1888 ???

Possible death for Jane:

15092/1894 DONALD JEAN G UNKNOWN UNKNOWN - YASS
