Hello all,

I am trying to find out when Michael Doody left Ireland.

He was born about 1846/7 in Cloondrinagh, County Clare.

He arrived in New Zealand in 1872 from Melbourne Australia, I would love to find out when he left Ireland.

Thanks for reading:)

Cheers

Hi Jocko
Thank you for lovely reply.
I'm sorry I can't help with shipping records from Ire, unless there is a record of him arriving in Australia? before he went to NZ, or a record of him from Oz to NZ.
I have no idea how you will find these.
Sorry of no help at all.

Hi Jocko,
The only one i could find that may possibly be your fella coming into Victoria Australia is

Name DOODY MICH
Age 20
Date FEB 1863
Ship MORNING LIGHT

The age doesnt seem right all tho this can happen as mistakes can be made when transcribing from old records as some are not real clear to read.
If you were to order a copy of the passenger list you might be lucky that there is a little more info that may help comfirm if its him or not.

Hi gibbo,

Thanks so much for that information, yes the age is slightly out but it happens as you say, its sounds like a really great lead to follow.

How would I order a copy of the list?

Thanks ever so much

Jocko
