I am still trying to find Kate..... Catherine...... or kathleen. On the WA BMD on her marriage, and her children's birth, she has 3 different Christian names.
Her maiden name was Donellan, she came to Australia from Ireland in the late 1800's. She married Thomas Doyle at Coolgardie W.A. in 1895.
If I could find her right name, and the year she died, I'll get her death certificate.
Thomas Doyle died in 1905. Kate is one big mystery?

Hi Steve.
I think Kate? came from Tuam Galway. A friend went to Ireland a few years back and found and found out their was a Nuny Donellan,( can't tell you if it's one N or 2).....She lived at little castle Dunmore. Had 2 sisters who were nuns. I heard when I was young, that there were nuns in the family.
Kate??? Had a brother named Michael, they came to Australia together. I have found plenty on Michael but not a birth, nothing on Kate, or what ever he name is, she has 3 on WA Pioneer Index. I don't know how the certificates work in Ireland, If birth certs. have parents name. Wouldn't have Kate as he was older. I really don't know where to start on the Donellan's.
Christine.

Hi Christine, Galway is on the west coast of Southern Ireland
I am no expert on Ireland, being a 'blow in' from England, but had a quick look and found these. There is a reference to a monastry.

Kathleen, Cathleen, Katy, Kaitlin, and could go on. As always, you should check out the gaelic versions of the name, when searching, especially from the west of ireland. Most gaelic speakers were and are from that side of the country. Parish registers, I am informed, tended to be better from there.

There are more links on these, might give you some info.

Come back if I can help more. I will keep poking about. Steve.:)
