Not sure if this is helpful..

Barnardos themselves will carry out a search, but they do make a charge.

A large number of children were sent to Canada in the late 1800's to the early 1900's. The Canadian Library has a searchable database. May be worth checking this first.

Hi Geoff,

My rellie stayed in England. I think the Canadian and Australian are free. The record on fmp was a surprise as I have him and my grandad on all censuses.
I've emailed Dr B and waiting for a reply. :)
