Hi all, we are duo2uk and we come from the Tees Valley in the North East of England. We have just started to research a family tree but at present have not found out very much.

We have three children 1 at home & three grandchildren.

Our hobbies include gardening, reading, researching family history & diy.

We have a baptism certificate for a Sarah Binder born 13th Feb 1861 in Norton Co Durham. This was found in the possession of my parents.

Also I would like to know about John Stephen Smith & Annie Wood who were married in 1907. I know that they lived at 30a High St (Ridleys Yard) Norton in 1910 as this is where my father was born. He also had two sisters who were also born there.

Does anyone have any information about Arthur Marwood, who was a nurseryman. He worked for Fewster & Son in Norton in 1923.

Hi Duo2UK,

A warm welcome to FHUK.

John and Annies marriage certificate will give the fathers names and occupation plus the couples ages. Once you have this the next thing will be the birth certificates which will confirm fathers name and also give mothers maiden name, also you can trace the famil yon the census will put some links below. Certificates can be ordered on line through the Certificate Registration Services which cost £7.00 per certificate.

:) Many thanks for the replie's to our first post,if we can help with any info about the Teesvalley area please contact us.

one local site we have found usefull is http://www.stocktonroots.co.uk/ for
B.D.Ms in the Teesvalley area and it's free so if there's anybody out there (sounds like Startrek) wanting info on ancestors in the area try this one,the records go back to 1837

Hi

I have Durham ancestors and also ones who came from North Yorkshire and a Yorkshire Dales connection. Most of my Durham ancestors came from the southern areas such as Auckland, Darlington and Coniscliffe.

Hi Duo

Thanks. I live in Norfolk so I cannot get up to Durham Records Office. I did ask DRO if it would like to come to me but it refused point blank. :2fun:
