Hello crankypants,

Thank you very much.

It fits with her age at death:

FURNER EDITH ISOBEL F METHODIST 15/05/1984 93 COOLAMON - TRADITIONAL SECTION 0 :3354

I'll find some more FURNER queries to do in this topic.

Regards,

Dave

Hello crankypants,

Thank you very much. It is a possibliity. I've checked for births of Ella TURNER and there are several with different middle initials and marriages to match those.

No sign of Ella or Andrew on the Coolamon burial list.

Regards,

Dave

Hello crankypants,

Yes, YES :D You are correct!

FURNER GEORGE J.F.W. M METHODIST 05/04/1960 73:00 COOLAMON - TRADITIONAL SECTION METHODIST P 12 1272 0 : 895

:2fun:

YES You just solved the puzzle without knowing there was one!

I knew of the marriage to Rose Zillah MENZIES but I was looking for a birth in Scotland for Andrew McLaren. Silly me! He was born in Victoria along with his sibling Rose Zillah.

Robert Menzies married Rose Zillah Trevaskis 1885 ref 4827. Place is given as Kilmore - this is probably the birthplace of one of the couple. Both are buried in Rannock:

MENZIES ROBERT M 26/05/1935 75: RANNOCK - TRADITIONAL SECTION 579 0 : 2851

MENZIES ROSE ZILAH M 25/02/1924 60:00 RANNOCK - TRADITIONAL SECTION METHODIST 1 5 341 0 : 2879

Rose Zillah MENZIES was born on 9 Sep 1889 in Wangaratta, Vic.

Siblings include:

Menzies Andrew Mclaren father Robert mother Trevaskis Rose Zullah born Kyabram 1888 ref 4174

Menzies Olive Ruby Hilda father Robert William mother Trevaskis Rose Zi Kyab 1886 ref 27313

Hello crankypants,

Yes, grandmother Victoria CAVILLON. That family has a very interesting background. I have lots of details but some loose ends to revisit one day in the future. But on with the FURNERs.

Douglas Oswald b. 1899 d. ?

married 1930 Sydney

Floris Minnie LEADLEY b. 1899 d. 1951 Annandale.
-----------------
Warren Alfred b. 1890 d. 1949 Mosman

married where? when? possibly Goulburn

Elsa May unknown b. ? d. ?

Service record has his middle name as Alford:

Enlisted 17 Jul 1915 Warren Alford - S/N 1348 7 LHR later 5th FAB - Embarked Sydney HMAT A32 'Themistocles' - Served in France - Returned to Australia - Discharged 17 Jun 1919

A son Geoffrey Arthur:

Enlisted - S/N N172967 : Date of birth - 5 Mar 1921 : Place of birth - Goulburn, NSW : Place of enlistment - Willoughby, NSW : Next of Kin - Furner Warren

and the death of a daughter:

7331/1955 FURNER ELIZABETH ANN WARREN ALFRED ELSA MAY SYDNEY

Please see what you can find.

Thanks.

Hello crankypants,

I went again to NAA to look at Warren's service record. There is no mention of a marriage in England. He was discharged in 1919 and a son was born in NSW in 1921 so I'd say the marriage was in Australia but I can't see it as a FURNER or TURNER in NSW BD&M.

I did notice an A......y tree.

Regards,

Dave

Parents are Matthew George FURNER & Ada Mary JONES.
Do you want the names of Warren's siblings.

Hello crankypants,

Thank you very much. I can explain those. Warren's service record has his father A G = Arthur George as living at 'Cora Lynn' Faithful St. AG's spouse is Ada Mary. Edith Phyllis is Douglas and Warren's sister. Douglas married in 1930 so we have him at home before marriage and away from home afterwards.

So far I can't find when Douglas died.

Warren arrived back in Australia 3rd Military District = Melbourne and was discharged in 2nd MD = Sydney. So, possibly he married in Victoria in 1919 ??

It's possible Elsa May remarried (Warren died in 1949):

28249/1952 PRESSER ARTHUR MAYNARD TURNER ELSA MAY WOLLONGONG

There is no NSW birth for an Elsa M TURNER.

Regards,

Dave

Hello crankypants,

Thank you very much. Every little bit helps. I can now confirm A= Amy.

Still no luck with a death for Edith.

Another sibling:

Eileen Elizabeth b. 1884 Goulburn d. 1938 Waverley ??

4101/1938 THORNE EILEEN ELIZABETH ARTHUR GEORGE ADA MARY WAVERLEY

The problem is the marriage:

8545/1910 THORNE RICHARD L FURLONG EILEEN G GOULBURN
7250/1931 THORNE WILLIAM A GOWEN EILEEN M BRAIDWOOD
628/1935 THORNE AUBREY M LAUNDRY EILEEN E ANNANDALE

My guess would be the Goulburn one despite the G for her middle initial.

Please see what you can find.

Thanks.
