Hi Bruce,

Is it possible the John S Nancarrow in 1851 is actually John STEPHENS and belongs with the following four?

Jane 1838, Mary 1840, Elizabeth 1842 and Ann 1844

We need someone who has access to the PR to sort these out:

John Stephens
Christening Date: 7 Jun 1835
Christening Place: St. Agnes (near Truro), Cornwall, England
Father's Name: John Stephens
Mother's Name: Elizabeth Stephens

John Stephens
Christening Date: 4 Sep 1836
Christening Place: St. Agnes (near Truro), Cornwall
Father's Name: Joseph Stephens
Mother's Name: Elizabeth Stephens

We need baptisms that fit with parents Joseph and Elizabeth:

Joseph Stephens
Spouse's Name: Elizabeth ****
Event Date: 6 Jun 1835
Event Place: St. Agnes (Near Truro), Cornwall

I can't find one for Jane 1838, Mary 1840, Elizabeth 1842 or Ann 1844.

Josiah W. SIMMONS & Jessie NANCURRON
Marriage: 7 Sep 1875 Houghton, Michigan
Batch: M518432

Marriages Jun Qtr 1892
SIMPSON Richard Barrow F 8e 1376
SIMMONS Jessie Barrow F 8e 1376

I can't find the actual date on the usual sites.

It seems Josiah died after 1900 so I presume they never divorced and each simply claimed the other had died.
Hi Dave,
I didn't do a lot of work on Josiah but I'm fairly sure, his son was George Edward Simmons who was born in the United States.
He was buried in the Parish of Calstock at the age of 39 in 1916 and his address at the time was Gunnislake.
I also noticed that in 1901 he was living at Barrow-in-Furness near Jessie although this might be just a coincidence

Hi Dave,
Like you, I am also trying to find Elizabeth in 1841 and you might be correct because the hamlet of Tregajorran is a common factor in both the 1841 and 1851 censuses.

In 1841 there is Jane Stephens Age 3 living with Joseph **** and Jane **** at
Mithian, St Agnes, Truro, Cornwall, England

**** Joseph M Age 55 Birth Year 1786 Tin Miner Birthplace in county.

**** Jane F Age 55 Birth Year 1786 - Birthplace in county.

Henry **** M Age 20 Birth Year 1821 ? Birthplace in county.

William **** M Age 14 Birth Year 1827 ? Birthplace in county

Jane Stephens Age 3 Birth Year 1838 - Birthplace in county

This looks like a corresponding record for jane Stephens Age 13 living with Edward Nancarrow in 1851.

I should have edited the post Bruce.

Yes, that's Elizabeth and Jane with her grandparents.

John and Mary fit if you make John S Nancarrow in 1851 John STEVENS in 1841.

You need anything more Bruce?

A few things I can't find that may be available if we can find someone with the Parish Record discs.

Hi Dave,
I did a lot of research on the '****' family based on the baptism of Elizabeth in 1813 at St Agnes with the parents of Joseph and Jane and the marriage of Joseph Stephens and Elizabeth **** in 1835.

It has basically been confirmed that this is the correct marriage.

Do you want to continue back in this family line?

If so, I will help in anyway I can.

Bruce
