Damn :) age at death would help sort out the 1835 or the 1846 issue.

Sarah Ann continues to be a mystery, even in Cumberland. There isn't an entry in the BMD to match a Sarah Ann in the 1840's until 1850... There are plenty of Sarah's, can only assume, for some reason that Ann has been missed off or maybe wasn't registered!

There is a tree suggesting she was b. 1846, died 1909, aged at death 63y. Edward as sibling 1831-1910. Both d. Drummoyne, NSW.

If Sarah Ann was b. 1834, that would again be a problem  Edit: maybe not if her age was abt. 73y at death.

Hello Geoff,

Edward married Margaret, a daughter of James MENZIES & Euphemia VERNON.

Sarah Ann married Margaret's brother John.

That tree is partially correct. Same old story.

Edward lived at Drummoyne but died at Moss Vale:

The Sydney Morning Herald - Monday 14 March 1910 p.6
DEATHS
DIXON.-March 13, suddenly at Moss Vale, Edward Dixon, of Collingwood-street, Drummoyne, aged 79 years.

I can't find a reliable age at death for Sarah Ann. I would say they were siblings and both born in Cumberland. Very few Edwards who fit so I'd say we had the right one:

Edward DIXON c. 3 Oct 1830 Crosthwaite, Cumberland
- parents William DIXON & Mary

Regards,

Dave

Hello Geoff,

I was working off the tree - HERE

That's the one with Sarah born 1846 and William as an Innkeeper. As usual some of it has proved to be correct (eg death at Moss Vale), but perhaps not all can be proved.

Yes, I think so Geoff. Also

William Dixon
England, Births and Christenings, 1538-1975
christening: 23 Jan 1848 Crosthwaite, Cumberland, England
residence: Crosthwaite, Cumberland, England
parents: William Dixon, Mary

but not on the tree and so far not found in 1851 so may have died young.

Death 4x William 1848-1851.

Hello Geoff,

Thanks. That Manchester one is interesting.

Not sure this is the same one even though Cheshire is not far away:

DIXON Sarah Ann 25 'Admiral Lyons' 1858 Sydney and/or Newcastle Reel 2138, [4/4795]

Admiral Lyons - Arrived 30 Dec 1858
Sarah Ann 25 Housemaid Cheshire CE Read & write

The search for one in 1851 born Cheshire failed so can't be sure.

I still think it likely Edward and Sarah arrived together, but no sign of any possibles yet for Edward.

I've just about ruled out Sarah, the granddaughter of John in 1851.

Regards,

Dave
