The Brisbane Courier (Qld.) - Sat 27 May 1916 p.15
PERSONAL
Mr. Edward Slaughter, a very old and highly respected resident, died early on Thursday morning at the age of 78 years (our Clifton correspondent advised last night). On Tuesday night, during the progress of a welcome to the Rev. M. I. Young, Mr. Slaughter presided, and after speaking for some time he collapsed, and was saved from falling by the Rev. Mr. Young and Mr. W. A. Dean (Allora). He was removed by motor car to his home. The late Mr. Slaughter is survived by a grown-up family of sons and daughters.
Perhaps the date in the index is wrong.
