It is a direct line and impacts the tree to a great extent because of one missing birth/baptism, that of Charles abt 1795, son of Francis senior & Elizabeth FAIRHALL.
Sounds a bit warm where you are

If his father d. 1795/7 and mother d. 1795 [possibly in childbirth], who raised him?

Don't know. Charles arrived 1838.

I have no death for older brother Thomas born abt 1788.

Older brother Francis born 1786 died 1819.

Older sister Mary married Jesse CATT in 1810 (I can't confirm that)

Jesse died 1832 (I can't confirm that)

Mary died 1862 - on the list of requested burial lookups.

Thanks Geoff.

Thomas is a problem. Did one die young? Did both die young? Does the 1788 one not fit but then there is a large gap. Is there one missing?

Thomas 1784 Brede or Beckley ?

Francis 1786 Brede

Thomas 1788 Beckley ??

Mary 1792 Brede

Charles 1795 ?? Where ???

Thomas 1784 Brede or Beckley ?
Interestingly, there are a couple of trees that say 1784, Brighton, that can be discounted because of this..

Thomas Furner
Christening Date: 26 Sep 1784
Christening Place: Brighton, Sussex, England
Father: Thomas Furner
Mother: Elizabeth

And, that couple have more offspring in Brighton..

Married William COLEMAN 31 Jan 1732 (can't confirm)

William born 1705 - Richard & Mary ??
I've lost that marriage now :(

A couple of the less confusing trees have it...

"Richard Coleman (1681-1729)
28 FEB 1703 Brede, Sussex, England
Spouse
Mary Ivy
1673–1740"

Mary's surname may have been spelt IVEY..

Thanks Geoff.

Any death in the tree for William?

Any children? I have a note saying 3.
It gives this as a death for William
"William COLEMAN (1705-1729)
25 Nov 1729 Westfield, Sussex, England"

It says 7 offspring for Richard and Mary in one tree and possibly 2 more

"Richard COLEMAN 1705–1706
William COLEMAN 1705–1729
Richard COLEMAN 1707–1732
Mary Coleman 1709–1774
John Coleman 1712–1734
John COLEMAN 1712–1734
Edward COLEMAN 1714–1739
John Coleman
Mary M. Coleman"
