Hi, I just joined this site and came across this old thread. Greetings from Brisbane, Australia!
Eileen was my great grandmother, my mum Shirl was Major Michael Maude's daughter. (Major was his first name, not a rank). We have no birth record for Eileen, but Mum said she was from Waterford, and we have a record for her brother Patrick being baptised at Ballyphillip, Waterford on 18 July 1872. We also have not found Eileen on a ship register, but Patrick and her mother Johanna both died in Australia, so it's likely they came out together - don't know about her father Peter.
Joseph Maude b1819 first married Elizabeth Farrow and had three children. Elizabeth died and he then married Isabella Whitehead and had four more children. Joseph Maude b1859 migrated to Australia in 1883 on the "Star of India", Henry Whitehead Maude b1868 in 1886 on the "Aberdeen", and their parents and sister Rosa on the "Arabic" later in 1886. Another sister whose name we don't know married and had five children with the surname Valentine. The parents died young in England and the partly-grown children came to Australia to live with relatives - their names were Alec, Lina, Beatrice, Nellie (who may have been Helen) and Ian.
Rebecca Longbottom's sister Jane was married to Joseph's older half-brother Major, but Jane died in 1884. We have a lovely photo of Major and Jane and their children with Joseph and Rebecca outside the house at Cawston not long before. Rebecca Longbottom migrated in 1885 on the "Orient", married Joseph and died in childbirth the following year. Joseph then married Eileen in 1890.

So far I can't find Patrick's death.
Patrick died 10 Oct 1911 after a telegraph post he was working on fell and killed him. (NSW Registers of Coroners Inquests, Australian Death Index). He is buried in Woronora. His mother Johanna died in 1913 and is buried in the same grave. The surname is CONNORS. It was O'Connor, but forced to drop by the English. Mum said, "Eileen always hankered for the O' ".

Michael sounds familiar now. I can't find any mention in Mum's old records now. I was surprised to see we have Peter on our ancestry, as it didn't ring a bell, but no documentary evidence for him, so you are probably right.
We have no death information on Isabella either.

Dug a bit more - baptism register for Patricius (Patrick) Connors has parents listed as Petri Connors and Johanna Hogan, so that's where we got the Peter from. It was at Ballyphillip, Waterford, 18 July 1872. I can find no further information on Patrick's father.
