Hello Dave

Who are their parents please??

Amanda
Sorry. No idea yet, Amanda. Those are the only two births in index in England.

Not on the tree I inherited. I'm trying to work both ways from this

Marriages Dec Qtr 1955
ELCOCK Leslie B - PATTERSON Wandsworth 5d 1585
PATTERSON Audrey A - ELCOCK Wandsworth 5d 1585

The tree has been very accurate so far but has date as 11 Oct 1958

Howells is more common than I thought

Search for
Type: Deaths Surname: howells Start date: Mar 1920
Sorry, that search found 9368 matches and the maximum number that can be displayed is 3000.

Probably an ELCOCK born in RD Dudley 1895 - 1905

Lots of them.

I expected to find the marriage around 1925 in England.

I've also put a query re this family on the topic on the Private board.

Some can be ruled out because there are other marriages in Dudley 1920 - 1930

Nothing that looks like Howells.

Sorry Dave, I've looked at both FMP and Ancestry and can't find a marriage with these names. I've checked both Dudley Staffordshire and Dudley Worcestershire, but still no luck.

Thanks Amanda.

Maiden name or married name in index for mother in the birth reg?

How many Elcock families in Dudley in 1911?

The mother gives her maiden name on a birth reg. She may have been married before and therefore not been a Howells when she married Mr Elcock.

Thanks Emeltee.

I expected to find several Elcock families in Dudley in 1911 and found none. Only found a few who gave their pob as Dudley.

I just checked 8 possible combinations in Worcester and found no match.

Extending the year range

Marriages Jun Qtr 1923
Burton Mary A Elcock Dudley 6b 1829
Elcock John W Burton Dudley 6b 1829

No Mary Howells to a Burton

Marriages Mar Qtr 1924
Elcock Frederick Watkins Kidderminster 6c 90
Watkins Winifred Elcock Kidderminster 6c 90

No Winifred Howells to a Watkins

Too many certificates needed to solve the queries I have.

If you send for the birth cert for either Doris or Leslie it will give you the name of the parents which may be a better starting point to look for the marriage.

Yes, but the list is getting too long.

Adams, Elcock, Fuller, Patterson. I've have not looked at other connected families yet, Knee, Johnson, Jones, Rose.

I'll work my way through them all and at the end see what has not been found.

I'm hoping some electoral rolls as well as 1939 will help.
